The Great Barrier Reef is located in the Coral Sea, on the Northeastern coast of Queensland, Australia. It is the biggest coral reef in the world, as it stretches over 1300 miles long, and is up to 40 miles wide in some places. Coral Reefs are underwater reefs where fish live, made up of mostly coral, which are hard, stony substances, considered an external skeleton. They are usually found in warm, shallow waters.
Fun fact: The Great Barrier Reef is larger than the Great Wall of China, and about half the size of Texas.
